St. James' Church is still the Antwerp starting place for pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela. The late Gothic church is mostly made of marble. In St. James' Church you will discover an art collection with works by Jordaens, Rubens and Van Balen, among others. You will also find the burial chapel of Peter Paul Rubens.
St. James' Church used to be located in an affluent neighborhood. Now Rubens' parish church is in the middle of the student neighborhood. Recently, researchers discovered 16th-century murals there.
