From MAS to ZAS: from historic port to contemporary healthcare
From the MAS Museum, you walk along the old docks toward the Cadix neighbourhood, a sub-district of the Eilandje. There, renovations are in full swing: residential units find their place among old buildings that have been given a new life.
Discover with your city guide the reconversion of what in the 19th century was a place of warehouses and port companies, into a new, vibrant neighbourhood: the Municipal Institute for Decorative Arts and Crafts, the Vlaeynatie and the KOT (recruitment office for dock workers).
Finish up at the ZAS (Ziekenhuis aan de Stroom - Hospital by the river) after getting acquainted with the works of contemporary artists Sofie Muller and Philip Aguirre y Otegui.
Finally, have a coffee under the Muller Lambotte operating theater.
