History

Under the watchful eye of Jan De Lichte, your guide will tell you the genesis of the Slates and the futuristic courthouse designed by the architect Sir Richard Rogers. You will walk along "den Boulevard" and meet numerous historical figures during this outing such as Quinten Matsys, The Count of Horn, Jozef Lies, Jan Frans Willems, Graham Bell, the second Queen of the Belgians Maria-Henrietta...

If accessible, we take a look at the St. Michael and St. Peter Church. We also pop in to 'Den Bell'. The old court does not go unnoticed either. The highlight of this walk is the descent into the underground bastion. This is a remnant of the sixteenth-century city walls.

The walk From Butterfly Palace to Bastion is a fairly linear trail, but it is full of surprises.
