Schoonselhof Park Cemetery
Paris has Père Lachaise, Antwerp has Schoonselhof.
Since 1921, the old Schoonselhof castle grounds have been Antwerp's public cemetery.
The domain on the border between Wilrijk and Hoboken grew into an impressively beautiful final resting place of famous figures from Antwerp culture, politics and science. From Hendrik Conscience to Herman De Coninck, Peter Benoit, Robert Mosuse, Camille Huysmans and Hugo Schiltz, all are buried there.
Many grave monuments are works of art. They reflect different views of life and death. Your guide will lead you past military and Jewish plots and to monumental, idyllic and moving final resting places.
In the beautiful avenues you get quiet, because Schoonselhof is a park full of intimate peace, even for the living.
