Strolling through the station district: from Central Station to multicultural hotspots
Not only the monumental Central Station but the entire somewhat dilapidated station area has received a stylish facelift in recent years. Thanks to radical restorations and contemporary accents, this neighbourhood has again become a lively district with charisma.
During the walk we flash as in a video clip right through the spectacularly renovated Central Station and the imposing high-rise buildings of the Kievit district. We walk past steel baobabs, the Atlas Building and Designcentre De Winkelhaak. Your guide will also dwell on some distinctive aspects of the station district such as its nightlife, international diamond trade, strong Jewish presence, vanished prostitution and multicultural shopping and living together.
Your guide will give you a brief but powerful explanation without going into too much elaboration or detail.
Additional information:
- You will make a short visit to - if accessible: the Atlas Building, meeting point for integration and diversity in Antwerp.
- Provide suitable shoes for this somewhat longer walk.
