Antwerp University has an important collection of, mainly contemporary art: more than 1,100 pieces spread across four campuses.

These works are not exhibited in a separate museum, but have been integrated into the living environment of staff and students.

Antwerp University would like to offer interested visitors the opportunity to enjoy its collection and the architecture of its buildings.

Museum to Scale 1/7 consists of more than one hundred miniature 1/7 scale rooms dedicated to Belgian artists and Belgian artistic movements.

This major series was created under the impetus of Ronny Van de Velde. It offers a stunning overview of the visual arts scene since the 1960s.

Thematic and historical ensembles around symbolism, surrealism, photography, the Cobra movement, abstract and minimal art lead to Belgian contemporary artists, each of whom have arranged their rooms in an original way.

Participating Belgian artists include Jan Fabre, Jan De Cock, Pierre Alechinsky, Koen Van Mechelen, Ann Veronica Janssens, Michel François, as well as Angel Vergara, Johan Muyle, Luc Deleu, Luc Tuymans and many others.

After exhibitions at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels, at the Baker Museum in Naples (Florida), at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam and at the Fondazione Ghisla in Locarno, Museum to Scale 1/7 now has a permanent home at the Antwerp University.
