Antwerp welcomes you: an introduction to the City
Sinjoren are purebred Antwerpers, born and raised between the Scheldt and the Leien. Friendly and proud as they are, they love to show you the most beautiful corners of their "metropolis".
The walk starts at the Steen (statue of Lange Wapper). Through charming alleys and streets such as Vlaeykensgang and Wijngaardstraat, the walk leads you to lively squares such as Vrijdagmarkt, Handschoenmarkt, Groenplaats and Conscienceplein.
You will get to know beautiful monuments such as the City Hall, the Brabofountain, the Cathedral, the Plantin-Moretus Museum and St. Charles Borromeo's Church. This city walk is the ideal starting point to get to know the city.
If you would like to combine this historic city tour with an extended visit to the Cathedral, we recommend the guided tours Antwerp and its Cathedral welcome you (3h) and Antwerp and its Cathedral - an exploration (2h).
Or if you prefer a visit to St. Charles Borromeo's Church, we recommend the tour Antwerp and its Baroque Jewel.
Additional information
- If accessible, we will pay a brief visit to the pedestrian tunnel under the Scheldt River, the courtyard of the Plantin-Moretus Museum and St. Charles Borromeo's Church.
