War

September 2024 marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Antwerp. But what happened in the years before Sept. 4, 1944? And then after the official end of World War II? Would you like to know where the bombs fell, what suffering they caused, what role the city government played in that period and how crucial the function and location of the port was in the war? Then this walk about Antwerp during World War II is right up your alley.

During the walk, various aspects of the war are discussed. Among other things, the disappearance of thousands of Jewish people from the streets forever, the resistance, the collaboration, the fact that many Belgian and Allied forces died for the reconquest of Antwerp and the role the port played in settling the war will be discussed during the walk.
