Seamen's quarter: the red light district

In the shadow of magnificent St. Paul's Church and the MAS Museum there is an old harbour district with a fascinating maritime past.

A few years ago, the city government started the successful reconstruction of a lot of streets and squares in this legendary Seamen's quarter. At the same time, the City of Antwerp began an urban development programme that curbed counterfeit trade and prostitution. During this walk through the Seamen's quarter you will rediscover the neighbourhood. Today it is a cozy place with a rich history, a beautifully restored parish church and a limited prostitution zone.
