Central Station - among the most beautiful stations in the world!
Antwerp's Central Station has recently been named one of the most beautiful train stations in the world several times.
The walk starts on Astridplein, with a view of the facade of Central Station. Your guide will outline the history of this majestic building at this spot. Then you visit the magnificent station hall. Did you know that this hall was built after the model of the Pantheon in Rome? The hall is full of symbols referring to the wealthy bourgeoisie in Antwerp in the 19th century. The iron railroad hall of Central Station, with its three-hinged arches, is a technological marvel from 120 years ago. Here you can see why this station is nicknamed "the railroad cathedral'.
