1. What makes a licensed Antwerp City Guide different?

A licensed Antwerp City Guide has followed specific training, passed exams and is registered with Tourism Flanders. This guarantees a high degree of knowledge, professionalism and reliability. Someone who "just" offers tours does not have this official recognition and the quality can vary greatly.

2. What languages do Antwerps City Guides speak?

Most Antwerp City Guides are multilingual. In addition to Dutch, they are often fluent in English, French and/or German. Many guides also master Spanish, Italian or other languages. It is always advisable to inquire about the language you wish when booking a guide.

Booking tour / activity

1. Can I book a city guide for a customized private tour?

Absolutely! Antwerp city guides offer the option of private tours, completely tailored to your interests and pace. Whether you are interested in fashion, history, architecture, the diamond district or the port, we can provide an itinerary that suits you perfectly.

2. How long does an average tour with an Antwerp City Guide take?

The duration of a tour can vary, but most standard walks last between 1.5 and 2 hours. Longer themed tours or full-day programmes are also possible, in consultation with Antwerps City Guides.

3. When do I book a tour?

Antwerp City Guides offer a wide range of guided tours. Discover the full offer here. Even though we have many guides, we recommend booking at least a few weeks before your visit to ensure the date and start time of your visit. If during your tour you will also visit a museum or other location that requires admission tickets, remember to book tickets for this at the museum or location yourselves (website or ticket office).

4. What happens when the group is delayed?

In principle, the guide is only available from the agreed start time until the agreed end time.. The contact information of the guide(s) will be communicated upon confirmation of the tour.

The group should contact the guide(s) in case of late arrival. If our guides have not been warned, they will wait for the group for a maximum of sixty minutes after the agreed starting time.

5. I always have my smartphone. Should I print my ticket(s)?

No, you do not need to print your ticket(s). Save the email with your e-ticket(s) so you can access them via your smartphone. That way you'll always have them at hand.

6. Can I participate in a group walk as an individual?

In principle, a group walk is only for the people who have booked it. However, we also plan to organize tours for individuals. Check back regularly on our website, as we regularly add new dates and tours.

7. How many participants per group.

This can vary from 1 to a maximum of 20 participants per group, including group leaders. For groups of 21 or more, you must book an additional guide. Groups of 15 participants is ideal. Exceptions are explicitly noted in the tour description.

8. Can I take pictures?

You can, of course, take photos on the street. Photography for personal use is generally permitted inside buildings, unless otherwise indicated (e.g., for privacy reasons). Flash photography is usually prohibited there.

Pay

1. How much does a tour cost?

A guided tour costs €130 for 2 hours, €40 for each additional hour (no VAT added). There is a 5% service fee .

2. How and when should I pay?

Payment is made in advance and online, never in cash.

3. Can I receive an invoice for my purchase?

Invoices are only made up for companies (subject to VAT) and schools. Invoices are issued if a VAT or company number has been entered during the ordering process.

4. During the ordering process, I entered the necessary information to receive an invoice. Can I receive a copy?

5. I am a teacher and I am booking for my school. Can I pay in an alternative way?

After you have paid for a booking online, you will always receive an email with an overview of your booking. You can use this to request reimbursement of the paid amount from your administration/management. If you would still like an invoice, you can indicate this during the ordering process. Don’t forget to enter the school’s VAT or business number (ask your administration/management for the number).
If you are placing a booking on behalf of a school and prefer another payment method, please contact us via the contact form. Be sure to request the VAT or business number from your administration/management in advance.

6. Can I purchase a product or service as a minor?

Yes, if you are at least 16 years old on the date of purchase. When purchasing a product or service, you are aware that you must make a payment in exchange for the product or service. Therefore, the purchase of the product or service is valid and we reserve the right to refuse reimbursement. Are you not 16 years old on the date of purchase? Ask your parents or a person who is at least 16 years old to make the purchase.

Cancel / Change

1. How can I cancel a reservation?

Cancellation of a tour by Antwerp City Guides is subject to a number of conditions and costs.

In case you cancel at least 7 calendar days prior to the date of the scheduled activity, you will receive a full refund of the purchase price of the tour or walk, excluding the cancellation fee of 10 euros.

For cancellation up to 7 calendar days prior to the date of the scheduled activity or in case of no-show, there is no refund.

2. Until when can I cancel a guided tour?

Cancellation of a tour of the Antwerp City Guides is possible up to 7 calendar days before the date of the activity. This is subject to a number of conditions and costs. See question above. Do you wish to cancel a reservation? Please contact us via the contact form.

3. Can I make a change?

Yes you can, but eachchange costs 10 euros.

Force majeure / right of withdrawal

1. What in case of force majeure?

In case Antwerp City Guides cannot perform the agreed service due to force majeure, a voucher for the identical product is offered to clients with Belgian nationality. Clients with a foreign nationality will receive a full refund.
In case of force majeure, we are not obliged to fulfill our obligations. In this case, we may either suspend our obligations for the duration of the force majeure, or terminate the contract definitively.
Force majeure is any circumstance beyond our will and control that prevents the fulfillment of its obligations in whole or in part. By this we mean among others (but not limited to) strikes, unexpected traffic jams, accidents on European roads, pandemic, breakdowns in a (telecommunications) network or connection or communication systems used and/or the unavailability of the website at any time, non- or non-timely delivery of suppliers or other third parties engaged, ... .

2. Is there a right of withdrawal?

In accordance with Article VI.53, 12° of the Code of Economic Law, as a customer you do not have a right of withdrawal for the provision of services related to leisure activities, if the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.

Mobility

1. How do I travel to and within Antwerp?

Are you looking for the best way to travel to or in Antwerp? There are many ways to do so, such as by bike, public transport and even by boat. Plan your route via www.slimnaarantwerpen.be/en/home and don't be surprised.

Beware of parking policies in downtown Antwerp!

2. Where can I park my car in Antwerp?

Antwerp is a bustling city with a lot of residents and visitors. And for that, a lot of parking spaces are needed. From August 1, 2023, new parking rules apply in Antwerp: in the historic centre, only residents with a parking permit can park. Outside this zone, paid parking applies. If you plan to stay in the city for a few hours, it is more interesting to park at a free P+R on the outskirts of the city or choose one of the public pay parking lots.

In and around Antwerp, there are currently 9 P+Rs where you can park your car for free. Here you have a quick connection to the city centre by tram, bus or bicycle. An overview of all P+Rs and connections to the city centre can be found here.

Do you like to go out for the day and want to go to Antwerp city centre by car? Then park in one of the many public car parks. This is usually cheaper than street parking. An overview of all paying car parks per district can be found here.

The Antwerp city centre and part of Linkeroever are subject to a low-emission zone. If you are planning a visit to Antwerp by car, check here to see if you can enter the low-emission zone. In the old city centre coaches can't drive. Outside the old city centre, there are several places where passengers can get off and be picked up again. Please consult this website.

Belgian law applies to all disputes related to or arising from our offers and/or agreements. In case of disputes or litigation, only the courts of the judicial district of our registered office have jurisdiction.
